CCR legality

Is it legal to carry a concealed rifle (or shotgun) if there is no restriction on handgun concealed carry?

CCR legality

"A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Please note that the word "People" is capitalized, also please take not of the verbiage : "SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED"

CCR? :applause_:rock::D

My state issues a concealed weapons permit. I can carry anything I can legally own and find a way to conceal. Other states issue a concealed handgun license or have restrictions. Normally I'd say check packing.org but these days it seems to rarely be up. Either way federal law is not involved in this one.

SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED, damn right. I've gotta pick up a pocket constitution, I'll keep that in my coat pocket. Its my official CCR permit :bull-buddy-icon:

I'm not a small guy, my jacket is pretty big/tall. My AK fits nicely under my coat with my single point sling and the folding stock. I keep the 40 round mag in the left pocket. No one seems to notice the strap, it kind of looks like a 1 shoulder backpack strap. I don't even have to zip the jacket. Now I wonder what would happen if I was stopped by the police? My guess would be either nothing, as I don't think I act in a way that would warrant a search, or, if someone sees it and gets uppity, then maybe it'll make a scene, I doubt anything more than a long talk with the sherrif will come of it though.

I'd like to fabricate a locking mechanism so I can have my rifle locked under the passenger side dashboard. Maybe they sell something like that? I'll have to check cabellas.

Tomorrow I'm going to go buy a pistol, probably something cheap and easy to conceal. I'd like to get a shoulder holster but then I'll have to get a sharp lookin blazer to wear over it and a pair of aviators :tongue_ma: Maybe I'll just get something concealable for the hip.

Any suggestions for a good holster for holding something in the glock17/beretta size?

Dont go round tonight, its bound to take your life... man I love VT :D

Concealing any gun is a matter of your frame size and style of dress. Your best bet for a shoulder holster will be a jackass or Miami classic style rig. I also like pocket carry and with the right shorts I have actually done this with a CZ-75B fullsize 9mm, gotta have DEEP pockets though.

I also like IWB holsters. Some people worry about an IWB in the small of the back because they fear falling on it. Maybe. You do know your breakfalls, don't you? If so, not practically much of a problem and it provides good concealment and fast access.

The shoulder holster is the best for the car though and most other seated situations. Dickies button down work shirts over a T does the job for me. Wear some shades or hat and/or something around your neck to help draw attention. Ordinary people won't tend to notice any buldges and the people who do it either won't matter with them or you'll have legal right. I've walked past many Captain America cops who've never noticed.

If you're a really big guy fullsize shouldn't be a problem, I'm a lean 160lbs and I get away with it. Compact will always be more concealable, though.

Carrying an AK or any other rifle does have a liability with it, if you are made by a cop or similar chances are you'll be in for a lot of hassles even if you don't otherwise get in any trouble. You might make the news. These days everybody's a "home grown terrorist!" in the eyes of the B.S. pop culture. Once in a while for special occasions is probably fine, I just wouldn't make a habit of it.

Good points Rev

I went out and got a Glock 17 today, I like it :D I can't wait to use this thing. I was low on cash but was able to get a box of some winchester (yuck) hollowpoints just to keep it loaded while I carry it around. I might get Speer Lawman or something when I have more money.

The nylon inside-the-waistband holster leaves a little to be desired but its padded nicely and I can draw pretty quick. Putting it back in the holster though isn't as easy as I'd like.

Alright, so now I've got an AK under my coat and a glock on my hip, now where can I hide that rocket launcher??? Anyone got a link to a good holster? Maybe a guitar case... :bear_w00t:

Awesome! The Glock 17 is a good gun.

I don't know what kind of Winchester HP you bought but the 147gr Personal Defense they sell at Wall-Fart is actually pretty good for the money. I'm a fan of Remington Golden Sabers but the Gold Dots are real nice, too. The sabers tend to penetrate a little more and expand a little less than the dots. Generally speaking I like the 124gr HP's the best.

Anyway now you get to stock up on factory 33rd mags for $30 each! :applause_
